John grew up on a dairy farm in Chilton, WI.  Following the unexpected death of his father while he was in high school, John began to take an interest in funeral service. He graduated from college and taught Sales and Marketing at Stevens Point Area High School for five years. In 1982, John’s oldest son, Andrew, died of childhood cancer. Following that death, John resigned from teaching to enter mortuary school. He worked at two large funeral homes in Milwaukee and Indianapolis where he obtained extensive experience conducting funerals and helping families cope with devastating losses.  In 1991, John, Barb, and their family moved back to Wisconsin to purchase the funeral homes in Sheboygan Falls and Oostburg.  John’s personal experience of the death of his father and son equip him to more fully understand the needs of those who grieve. He wakes up each day with an eagerness to serve the public to the best of his ability.  He is active in many local community and statewide organizations. He was elected  President by his peers (2005-06) of the International Order of the Golden Rule. The International Order of the Golden Rule is an invitation only association for progressive and high standard funeral homes primarily throughout the United States and Canada. John is married to Barbara. They have four children, Kyle (Jayne) Wenig, Angela (Scott) Ring, Evan, and Damon Wenig; and one grandson. John and Barb live in Gibbsville and are active members of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg. In his free time, John enjoys traveling with his wife, spending time working in his yard, and collecting political memorabilia.

Barbara Wenig, Owner / Hairdresser / Funeral Assistant

Barb, in many senses is the “encouragement from behind the scenes” for our firm. She has good insight on how we can better serve our families each day. She takes personal pride in keeping our two funeral homes beautifully decorated with personal and seasonal touches. Barb is responsible for the hairdressing needs of our clients as well as any other cosmetology needs. In addition to helping at the funeral homes, Barb is an Interpreter for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the Sheboygan Area School District.  She is married to John, and does an amazing job of maintaining their household and family’s needs. Barb is mom to four children, Kyle (Jayne) Wenig, Angela (Scott) Ring, Evan, and Damon Wenig. She loves being "Nana" to her grandson, Anderson Wenig.  She sings in the choir and is a Pastoral Elder at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg. Barb is also active in the Oostburg Optimist Club. In her free time she enjoys flower gardening, reading, biking, exercising, traveling, volunteering and music.

Mark brings to our staff a long history of dedicated funeral service.  He was raised in Eau Claire, as a part of a  successful funeral family. He attended Marian College in Fond du Lac  where he played basketball, and received his BA degree from Lakeland College, before attending mortuary college in Milwaukee.  Mark is a third generation funeral director and prides himself on providing professionalism , warmth, and a commitment to detail for each family that he serves. Mark is dedicated to his work. In his free time enjoys health and fitness, mountain biking, golf, camping and riding his Harley Davidson Fat Boy.

Jim Beine, Embalmer / Funeral Director

Jim is a valued member of our staff.  His integrity, professionalism, and sincerity are second to none.  Jim puts forth his very best in everything he attempts. Jim entered funeral service in 1994 after owning his own ambulance service in West Bend. Jim is a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, Kohler Kiwanis Club, and lives in Kohler with his wife, Helen, and five children. He does an outstanding job balancing his busy professional life with being a devoted husband and father.

Connie joined our team in May of 2009.  She  brings a wealth of organizational skills and ideas to our office. Connie has a pleasant manner in the way she approaches her work. Connie’s duties are widely varied to include the processing of documents, data entry, printing of memorial materials, accounts payable and cheerfully answering any telephone inquiries. She adds great value to our office operations and is pleasant to work with on a daily basis. Connie has two adult children, a son, Matt; and a daughter, Kristin.

Harley Hilbelink, Facility Maintenance / Funeral Assistant

Harley is a very capable and personable member of our staff.  He is pleasant and has a wide variety of abilities.  He dutifully takes pride in keeping our facilities, vehicles, lawns and flower gardens in pristine condition, all for your pleasure. Harley also assists with the filing of various documents at the court house and other agencies. He sings in the choir and serves as an elder at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg.  He is married to Jeanne and has three grown children, and eight grandchildren. In Harley’s free time he enjoys sports and spending time in his yard tending to his flower gardens and pond.

John Lammers, Funeral Assistant

John has faithfully served our funeral home and our community since 1966. He is well known in the community and well liked by those who have the privilege of knowing him. He is a lifelong member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church.  John is married to Carol, has four grown children, 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  John is an active person who enjoys playing golf, skating, skiing, sports spectating, and flying his power parachute.

Dick VanEss, Funeral Assistant

Dick serves our community with a smile and sincerity. Personal service is always forefront in Dick’s attitude. Dick assists on funerals and helps keep our properties and vehicles in pristine condition, all for the benefit of the families we serve. Dick is retired from the Sheboygan Post Office. He has been an active lifelong member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg. Dick is married to Carol, has three grown children, and enjoys spending time with his ten grandchildren. He enjoys playing golf in his spare time.

Danette Hoftiezer, Funeral Assistant

Danette has a warm and pleasant smile that greets the people that visit the funeral home. She was raised in Cedar Grove and currently lives in Gibbsville. She is a devoted wife to her husband, Todd, and a busy mother of four children; Lindsay, Alyssa, Nicholas, and Jackie. Their family are active members of Gibbsville Reformed Church, where Danette works as a church secretary.  They enjoy spending weekends at their home in Upper Michigan, enjoy outdoor activities, and attending their children's school and church activities. In Danette’s “spare” time she enjoys scrapbooking, shopping, and traveling.

Rev. Don Hasse, Funeral Assistant

Pastor Don brings to our firm a wealth of experience of helping people in need. He serves as Pastor Emeritus of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls and continues using his pastoral gifts to numerous ministries statewide. He is compassionate and understands grieving people and their special needs. Pastor Don lives in Sheboygan Falls with his wife, Peggy.  They have three children and eight grandchildren. He and Peggy enjoy traveling, reading, volunteering, and spending time with their grandchildren.

Mike Hagen, Funeral Assistant

Mike extends to each person that he meets warmth and a sincere desire to help them in any way he can. He is compassionate and caring by nature. Mike works full time at the Kohler Co. and helps at the funeral home evenings and weekends. Mike lives in Oostburg with his wife, Karen, and they have three grown children.  He is an active member at Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish and enjoys running, biking, and gardening in his free time.

Cassidy Schmidt, Funeral Assistant

Cassidy has a passion to become a funeral director.  She is a graduate of Random Lake High School and is currently studying business at UW_Whitewater.  Cassidy's mother died while she was in high school and because of the things she experienced and learned from her mother's death she is confident that she can "give back" to other families in their time of need. Cassidy is a delightful young woman that has gotten active on her college campus helping other students cope with cancer and death.  Cassidy brings passion and energy to everyone she meets.

Lynn Buehler, Graphic Artist

Lynn views her work as an extension of her personal ministry to help others. She creatively designs the Memorial Video Tributes for the families that we serve. These video tributes are only created after prayerfully considering the specific needs and uniqueness of each individual family. Lynn also creates personalized Memorial Programs which include life history and photos highlighting and celebrating the life of your loved one.  She lives in rural Sheboygan Falls with her husband, Jim. They have two children and five grandchildren. Lynn sings in her choir at the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church.  She enjoys knitting and attending plays.
